The state government of West Bengal has made several steps to ensure the social and financial stability of the state’s scheduled caste and scheduled tribal residents. In this pursuit of the people’s welfare, the West Bengal government created the Joy Bangla Pension Program, a new pension system for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All pension programs will get combined into two categories for the beneficiaries under the Joy Bangla Pension Scheme.

 

What Is Joy Bangla Pension Scheme?

The WB Joy Bangla Pension Scheme was established by the West Bengal state government for the benefit of the province’s scheduled caste and scheduled tribe citizens who are permanent citizens of Bengal. The state government’s Taposali Bandhu Pension Scheme and Jai Johar Pension Scheme for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), respectively, measure to split benefits for its people into two categories. All pension beneficiaries will now get pension payments of Rs. 600 and 1000 rupees. On April 1, 2020, the program came into operation.

Note: No money in the form of premium is to be paid.

Joy Bangla Pension Scheme Eligibility Criteria

  • The scheme is open to applicants who fall within the (BPL) Below Poverty Line category.
  • Only a West Bengal permanent citizen can enroll in the pension scheme
  • Only SCs and STs are eligible for the Taposali Bandhu and Jai Johar initiative.
  • The plan is also open to disabled persons from restricted classes.
  • A person should be at least 60 years old to be eligible for the Joy Bangla Pension Program.
  • A person who holds a valid bank account in India
  • Candidates for the Joy Bangla Pension System must not be part of any other West Bengal government pension scheme.
  • An applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal to be considered for the program. Other states’ residents are not eligible.

Benefits of Joy Bangla Pension Scheme

 

  • The policyholder of the Topasali Bandhu Pension scheme will get Rs.600 per month as a pension.
  • The policyholder of the Jai Johar scheme, the Pension scheme will get Rs.1000 per month as a pension.

Procedure for filing application

 

  1. Go and visit the West Bengal Government site and take print out of the application
  2. Fill the application: Scheme in which you want to enroll like if you are Scheduled caste then tick Taposili Bandhu but if you are Schedule Tribe then tick on Jai Johar Fill details like Name, beneficiary name etc.
  3. Submit the application

Documents required for Joy Bangla Pension Scheme application

  1. Passport Photograph – for the identity of a person
  2. Caste Certificate – for identifying whether a person falls under the category of SC/ ST
  3. Digital Certificate from Appropriate Authority
  4. Digital Ration Card – Address Proof
  5. Aadhaar Card
  6. 7 Copies of Voter Id -Address Proof
  7. Income Certificate (Self Declaration) – No rich person can take this policy
  8. Bank Pass Book
