PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme has been launched by the central government for helping all the farmers of India who hold land. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help the marginalized farmers.

How does the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme help the farmers?

PM Kisan Nidhi Scheme is the financial support given to the farmers by the government of India.

• It helps the farmers procure various demands of input for agriculture and help for their domestic needs.
• It ensures that the farmers can grow proper crops and appropriate yield can be obtained in comparison to the expected yield from the land.
• The farmer gets support of 6000/- per year in three equal instalments as follows.

Launching of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme

The Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme came into effect on the 1^st of December 2018. The scheme was officially launched on 24^th February 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

People eligible to avail benefits of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme

The people who are eligible for the benefits of the scheme are

• Farmers or families who have cultivable lands.
• Farmers can be either from the rural or the urban area
• For families that are small and marginal- the size of land doesn’t matter.

People who can’t avail the benefits of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme

• Farmers with institutional landholdings.
• People who in the past or present are holding any constitutional post.
• People who have retired or serving as an employee and officer of the Central/State Government, Chairperson in the District Panchayat, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Members of state legislative council, or assemblies or member of Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
• Anyone who is presently employed or retired employee of any of the bodies under the state or central government and its field units Central or State PSEs and attached offices/Autonomous institutions under Government as well as a regular employee of the Local Bodies. (Excluding Multi-tasking Staff/ Class IV/Group D employees)
• All superannuated/ retired pensioners whose monthly pension above 10,000 and more
• A person who paid income tax in the last assessment year.
• Professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Chartered accountants, lawyers, and architects registered with the Professional bodies and carrying out profession by undertaking practice.

Procedure to register for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme

The process to apply for the scheme is as follows:

1. Step1: Go to the official website of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme i.e @pmkisan.gov.in
2. Step2: On the page that appears scroll down to ‘Farmers Corner’ and click on the ‘New Farmer Registration’ option.
3. Step3: The ‘New Registration Form’ will open. The page verifies whether the farmer is already registered on the portal. If registered the details get displayed.
4. Step4:  For verification, the farmer needs to select from the option of ‘Rural or Urban Farmer Registration.’ and then enter the Aadhar Number and select the state and after entering the captcha can click on the ‘search’ button.
5. Step5: After seeing that the details of the farmer are not found in the database, a confirmation page will appear and ask ‘if you want to register yourself’ Click on the ‘Yes’ tab
6. Step6: Next page will open where the farmer needs to enter the personal and banking details and click on the ‘save’ button. Take a printout of the details entered before saving the information
7. Step7: The screen showing your registration number and reference number will appear on the screen. Take a printout or keep a record of the registration number and reference number.

This is the way the farmers can easily register themselves for this scheme and avail its benefits.
