What is IFSC code?

IFSC stands for Indian Financial System Code . It is a 11 digit alphanumeric code that you can usually find on your bank’s passbook or cheque. This 11 character alphanumeric code is used in  money transfer through NEFT ( National Electronic Funds Transfer ), RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlements),  IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) and UPI.

The first 4 alphabetic characters ( HDFC ) of the IFSC code represent the bank name which is Hdfc bank ,  the 5th character in the code is zero and the last 6 digits (001564)  represent the branch address ,which is the address of HDFC bank branch in moti nagar ,New delhi 110015 .

How to find IFSC code?

Any one can find the IFSC code easily on his cheque book leaves, passbook . You can also find it on RBI’s (Reserve bank of india ) official website, search it on google and call the bank branch and ask for the code. There are various websites who are also providing IFSC code information just with bank name and address.
